Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Dr. De Leon obtained his B.S. degree in Industrial Microbiology from the University of Puerto Rico in 1988. Soon after that he joined the US ARMY where he serve as part of the Military Intelligence Corps. While still serving in the military Dr. De Leon was accepted at the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine with a full scholarship from the United States Public Health Service, completing his MD degree in 1994. He went to Duke University for specializing in psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry.

In 1999 he joined the University of Massachuseets Medical School as a faculty member in the Department of psychiatry, and the National Health Service Corps. He taught transcultural issues in psychiatry and practiced community psychiatry at the Great Brook Valley Health Center in Worcester, Massashusetts.

Mostly because of the snow and cold weather of the north, he relocated to Florida in 2004 to partner with Dr. Torres, and together they established Advanced Behavioral Health Center.

Dr. De Leon clinical interests are wide and diverce and is well trained to treat all ages,  but as the only child & adolescent psychiarist in the practice he tries to focus more in the diagnosis and treatment of our younger population.

He is Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. De Leon holds license to practice medicine in Florida, is a member of the medical staff of Florida Hospital Waterman, and member of the teaching faculty of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
