OUR HISTORY
It was no surprise to see Dr. Luis Torres falling in love with Lake county. Soon after completing his residency training and relocating to the area, he saw the huge need for quality psychiatric services and moved forward with his vision to establish a new center for behavioral health in the year 2000.
The quality of the services offered made the clinic a very important asset that satisfied a previously under served community.
Within a very short time Dr. Torres recruited a number of clinicians with the same vision and with a remarkable level of experience and background. Together this very same initial team continues delivering state of the art and evidence based behavioral health services.
But eventually this proved to be not enough. With the influx of new families establishing residence in the area, a new need for services was identified; this time the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents, and Dr. Torres became an active participant for the solution of this problem.
In 2004 he recruited Dr. Hector De Leon. Being long time friends from medical school, their interpersonal bond assured a very good combination of characters that also contributes significantly to the delivery of services. With this significant addition the clinic stepped in as the only private practice in the area able to provide comprehensive services for all ages and backgrounds, fluent in Spanish, with a multicultural emphasis, a in tune with contemporary alternative and complementary medical practices.
Eventually the demand continued to surpass our services. With people driving from as far as Ocala and southern Lake County, we again saw the need to expand and restructure, so in 2007 we opened our second office at The Villages in Lady Lake.
As our future continued to add new challenges in terms of services, we just welcomed the addition of Dr. R. Scott Hoffer. He has become pivotal for the behavioral medicine care provided around The Villages and surrounding areas.
For the past 8 years, Advanced Behavioral Health Center has consistently provided excellent psychiatric and counseling services, and the support we get from our community is our greatest reward.
