Jeanie D’Onofrio, M.A, Ph.D, (aba)
I received my AA in Psychology at Lake-Sumter Community College, my BA in Psychology was received at UCF, a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling was received from Nova Southeastern University, and Ph.D (abd) from Capella University. I became licensed in the State of Florida in 2003.
My career in mental health started in April 1997 when I started worked for LifeStream Behavioral Center in Leesburg for 8 1/2 years. I started out in case management working with adults with persistent mental illness. My next job at LifeStream was as a Forensic Case Manager working with adults that not only had mental illness, but legal charges. This entailed traveling to various civil and forensic state hospitals as a liaison.
After leaving my position with forensics, I worked in Leesburg Outpatient doing individual, family, and group therapy with adults. Upon leaving this position, I went to ITOS (Intensive Therapy to On-Site Services) to work with children, their families, and the schools. Towards the ending of my career at LifeStream, I assisted in the start of the FACT (Fl. Assertive Community Treatment) team as the assistant team leader working with the most severe and persistent mentally ill. In addition to my experience in these roles at LifeStream, I also was a TEAM trainer (Techniques for Effective Aggression Management) for 6 1/2 years teaching employees safe ways of defending themselves against aggressive clients.
I came to Advanced Behavioral Health Center in August 2005. I currently do Individual, Group, Marriage, and Family therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. Depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and childhood disorders are just a few of my specialties.
